"The little guy with the big win" read the tag that hung from Simon's collar for
years. It could have just a well read, "the little guy with the big heart". Simon was the epitome of a show dog.
He loved to be the centre of attention entertaining the crowd and never missed a photo opportunity. Anyone that ever
witnessed him in the ring could see his non-stop showmanship and "look at me" attitude, staring down many a Judge!
He was often referred to as a snob but really he simply tolerated the world, he loved me. Beyond the great show dog
that he was for me he was my friend and companion for almost 14 years.
The special bond we had started the day I acquired this 7" at seven weeks puppy
from Debbie Moore (Fairfax) until the day he died, December 23, 2002. He was a joy. I miss him terribly but thankfully
others have continued to breed and stay true to the Heritage Spirit tradition. Words are simply inadequate to express
my depth of feeling for this very special boy. Simon, above all, was a "good dog" who will live in my heart forever.

"What purpose did they serve, all the good dogs that once ran through the world and wait now in the shadowy
quiet of the past?
They lightened our burdens and drove away our enemies and stayed when others left us. They gave
aid and comfort, protecton and security. They held a mirror wherein we might see ourselves as we long to be. They gave
us a glimpse of the world beyond the narrow confines of our own species.
Although we make dull students, slowly they help us learn how to command and to protect with wisdom and
justice and imagination.
They taught and still teach us the joy of giving generosity and kindness and love --without thought of
gainful return.
And now--all the fleet hounds, the staunch mastiffs, the loyal shepherds, the dancing toys, the fumbling
puppies, pets on silk pillows, workers plodding at their task, the special ones you loved best, those of ours we still miss
-- all the good dogs, goodbye, until on some brighter day, in some fairer place you run out again to greet us."
