About us

We live just outside London.....

Tapestry is a small home based kennel.  Not counting visitors and puppies we may be growing out, three seems to be a good number for us and we seldom have more at any given time.  This provides us with the luxury of still being able to enjoy the ones we have to the fullest as they truly become our pets first, show dogs second.  We breed only when we are wishing to have a next generation to show.  If our numbers start to creep up we have been fortunate to find special homes for our older ones so they can enjoy being spoiled as couch potatos with their forever families.   Although I enjoy the competitive nature of this sport, dog shows have been and are a very social event for me and have provided the opportunity to meet some very interesting people, travel to some places I otherwise would probably never have gotten to and have made so many wonderful friends over the years.

This past year has been an especially satisfying one for me.  I have since 2000 run conformation classes at Pets Plus Obedience School in London and in addition the past couple of years a class at Country Club for Pets north of the city.  It is not uncommon for the children to come along to these classes with their parents or grandparents and before long  I start working with them which is something I thoroughly enjoy.  Therefore it was a privilege to be asked to be one of three judges for the Junior Handling Regional Finals.  I also had the pleasure of judging my first Specialty Sweeps at the Greater Kansas City Shetland Sheepdog Specialty.   Although I do not have any aspirations to become a judge I really enjoyed the opportunity this presented.

I am a Canine Good Neighbour Evaluator with the CKC and have obtained a CD obedience title with my Bernese. I have been involved with the St. John Ambulance Therapy dog program and have visited seniors  in local nursing homes for many years.  It is always a delight to see how much pleasure it gives them to have animals around.

Quality never quantity is what Tapestry is all about and whether it is Shelties or now Lowchen we will continue to breed to "the standard" maintaining a balance between type and soundness.
